Objectives

Specific Objectives

  • To establish the first specialized centre dedicated solely to the rehabilitation of children with birth asphyxia-related disabilities.

  • To provide early intervention services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and special needs education.

  • To train and empower parents and caregivers through workshops and counselling programs.

  • To advocate for better neonatal care in hospitals and public health awareness regarding

    birth asphyxia.

  • To collaborate with local and international medical institutions for expertise and

    sustainability.

Project Justification

  • Tanzania lacks dedicated centres and specialized services for infants affected by birth asphyxia.
  • Early intervention drastically improves outcomes, but is currently unavailable to most affected families.
  • There is a severe shortage of paediatric occupational therapists and speech-language therapists in the country.
  • Families are left unsupported, and children suffer preventable disabilities due to lack of access to therapy and care.
  • The project will fill a critical gap in Tanzania’s child health services, improving lives and creating long-term social impact.
